What Are Probiotics?
Probiotics are defined as: “Live microorganisms that when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit to the host” (World Health Organization 2001).
According to the International Probiotics Association (IPA), an international organization equally split between industry and academia, the benefits conferred by probiotics can include reduction in diarrhea caused by antibiotics, reduction in occurrence and duration of rotavirus diarrhea, alleviation of symptoms of lactose intolerance, alleviation of symptoms of food and skin allergies in children, reduction of recurrent ear and bladder infections, and other positive indications. The IPA also lists the scientific names of some of the common probiotic microorganisms that have demonstrated beneficial health effects in humans. The five probiotic species contained in the Master Supplements, Inc. product THERALAC, the subject of this website, are on the IPA list. Additional information regarding probiotics can be found on the IPA website at www.internationalprobiotics.org.
The statements regarding probiotic benefits made by the International Probiotics Association, an organization that does not manufacture or sell probiotics, are presented here for educational purposes only and must not be interpreted as claims for the Theralac product.
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates probiotics as a “dietary supplement” as opposed to a drug and any product claims made by a provider of a probiotic product must be limited to “structure and function” as defined and limited by the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health Education Act (DSHEA). Product claims shall not be made by a provider of a probiotic product with regard to disease diagnosis, prevention, treatment or cure. Furthermore, any structure and function probiotic claims must be supported by proper evidence consistent with the requirements of DSHEA.

By promoting a healthy intestinal tract, Theralac® enhances the absorption of the other supplements you are taking!
Another First from Theralac®
One of the major functions of a probiotic supplement is to produce lactic acid – this is referred to as ACTIVITY. ACTIVITY is the work probiotics do and goes beyond the CFU analysis which is important but only half the story. ACTIVITY is the other half of the story. Does your brand report ACTIVITY?
The #1 “molecular effect” of Theralac® is the production of lactic acid deep in the GI Tract; and with Theralac's patented delivery system and LactoStim™ prebiotic stimulation – it produces more lactic acid than any other probiotic. For example, 1% lactic acid production in 24 hours is considered a good result. Theralac® produces 1.3% to 1.6% in 12 hours. This test was performed by an independent laboratory, Minnesota Valley Testing Lab, in New Ulm, MN – results available upon request.
